Runa Shrestha is currently the student at the University of North Texas pursuing her career in Fashion Design. She is also a graduate with honors from the Otemon University of Japan with a degree in Business & Marketing. In fashion design program, Runa gained skill for pattern making, draping, Adobe Illustration, Photoshop, fashion illustration, technical drawings, etc. She is very visual person herself and expert in communicating her ideas through her drawings and garments. She was born and brought up in an urban city of Nepal, with a substantial value for her culture.
What are you inspired by?
Her imagination has always been an incredible driving force in her life, and has done and still does have an influence on almost everything she does. Her biggest strength is unconditional love and passion for art and always has been fascinated by the patterns that occur in art, architecture, nature; paintings have heightened her appreciation of them. Creating garments from the art, she is inspired from has helped her to see the world.
Who is your favorite designer?
There are lists of designers that she loves, but among them, Zuhair Murad, Elie Saab, Prabal Gurung, Vera Wang, Jason Wu and Yamamoto Yohji are the fashion designer who inspired her most and never miss to watch their newest collection.
Hobbies outside of fashion design?
Outside of fashion, she has also passion for dance, travel. Runa has already traveled most of the countries in Asia and North America. Her next travel bucket list is to explore European countries. She was always taught from her parents to respect everything and always be thankful to God for the life she has, and that matters the most to her as a person.
What are your plans after graduation?
She has a plan to move in New York City after her graduation and find the best platform for her in the fashion industry. Ultimately, her mission is to bring the fashion industry’s eyes to her culture, which is yet to be told and explore into high fashion.
