What is your favorite part of the design process?: I love picking out textiles. I am easily excited by textiles and fibers and usually build my designs around the textiles I have already found.
What are you inspired by?: Textiles. I love using intricate and unique textiles with timeless silhouettes
Who is your favorite designer?: I have several: Betsey Johnson, Charles James, and Coco Chanel
What is your dream job?: I want to teach at the university level, preferably textiles classes or fashion history.
Any hobbies outside of fashion design?: I love knitting, making quilts, baking and cooking, and volunteering at animal shelters
What are your plans after graduation?: I'm moving to Alabama to be closer to my husbands family. I am currently applying to the University of Alabama to get a Master of Science in Apparel and Textiles. Outside of that, I will be teaching my 7 year-old sister in-law how to sew, cook, knit, watercolor, and visit art museums. We will also be making and donating blankets for the local animal shelters and hopefully the baby wings of local hospitals, particularly the NICU.
What have you learned/any advice for other fashion design students?: Make lists. Itemized lists of each and every step that you need to complete each day until the deadline. Color code your planner by class. Buy lots of coffee and dry shampoo. Also take vitamins because being this exhausted will kill your immune system. This is literally how I've survived the past 4 years.
